Adult Class: Art Journaling Pt. 1 w/Robyn Smith

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Event Details

Class 1 of 2. You will automatically be signed up for both classes.

Learn the basics of art-journaling - used often as a creative and therapeutic expression using art, poetry etc. This will be held via Zoom and you can pick up a supply kit from the library in advance once you register for this class. Your kit will contain a journal, paint-brush, book-pages, mod-podge, craft paper, scrapbooking odds & ends etc.

DESCRIPTION:
Art Journaling is a visual record using a variety of art, images, words, and various papers.  There is no right or wrong way to do an art journal as it is your personal space to create and record your emotions, mood, a song, an event, or just to work out artistic ideas!

PROJECT:
In our project, we will be using a paint-over-collage technique that helps start any page by getting rid of the "blank" page.  Then we'll learn about "mark-making" and adding layers and symbolism.

SUPPLIES:
In addition to the kit you'll receive from the library, start collecting "mark-making" things like:  a plastic fork, bubble wrap, saran wrap, q-tips, cosmetic sponge, a piece of cardboard from pizza box, cardboard roll from toilet paper roll, different size condiment containers, etc.  We'll use these to make marks and create visual layers and textures!  A black sharpie is needed as well.
